Welcome Letter From The President

Welcome to the 2011 -2012 school year at Northside ISD. This year Northside ISD Council of PTAs proudly adds two new elementary school PTAs to the district. They are Edmund Lieck Elementary School and Judge Andy Mireles Elementary School.

Our Council board of volunteers has been busy this summer getting ready for the school year and we look forward to working with each of our local PTAs helping their local team be successful in bringing programs to their school. The PTA Mission is:

To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

NISD is a large district with needs that vary depending on the school. We are here to assist each school with the particular needs relevant to that PTA. Council PTA offers a variety of training and support classes with materials. We can also provide a Local Board Orientation training in which we come to your school. Council publishes five newsletters a year and supports programs such as the Jack C. Jordan Scholarship and the Reflections fine arts program.

We are proud to announce that we are recipients of the 2011 Vera Buillion Memorial Award for our Title 1 Project in which we paired Title 1 NISD schools with non-Title 1 schools as sister schools who adopted them to do donation drives for the families who needed help. Our Council also received Gold Level Awards from Texas PTA as an Outstanding Council, and for our Website and Newsletter in 2010-2011 and a Bronze Level Award from Texas PTA for Legislative Action.

We hope that you find our website informative and useful. All of our Council board members have had experience on a local PTA and are ready to help support you when you have questions. Our contact information is on the website. I look forward to meeting many of you at our general meetings in 2011 on September 1st and November 3rd and in 2012 on January 5th, March 1st, and May 3rd.

Let’s TEAM UP!

  • Upcoming Trainings
  • Note: The January Council Meeting date has changed to Jan 10th, 2013.

1. Make sure to send copies of treasurer reports for your board and general meetings to Central Office as you have been doing all year.

2. Remind officers and chairpersons to update procedure books thoughout the year. Some PTAs have a transition meeting so that the current board members can give the binders to new members who will be taking over their duties and can answer any questions. When possible leaving contact information is helpful for any questions later on.

3. Make sure that you designate the signers on your account as needed due to changes in officers and note them in your minutes.

4. Designate the who the non-signer is that will open and sign your bank statements each month and note this in your minutes.

5. Audits should be completed prior to a new treasurer taking over the books and writing any checks, or any time a signer is added or deleted on the account.

Please let us know of any questions you may have at any time.

President
Northside ISD Council of PTAs
